Turning a violent video game into something rainbowy

You know violent video games like Halo and Unreal Tournament 2004 (I've played ut2004 so I sorta know what I'm talking about below)? Lots of people in the gaming and game developing industries say that putting in the violence is neccessary and inevitable. Well it's not. Here's how you can turn a violent video game into something rainbowy, colorful, and something little kids (and people of all ages) can enjoy.

I used ut2004's game elements as the model for this, and obviously a new game would have to be made for this to happen.

1. Take out all the blood, gore, curse words, suggestive themes, and all the "extra" stuff which game companies use as a money maker to attract a teenage male audience. Little girls should have video games they can play too. To me little girls' games don't have to be as boring as the mlp runaway rainbow game boy advance game, however.

2. Dying - instead of characters dying, make them get "teleported back to start" or something.

3. Weapons - instead of realistic looking guns and weapons, use stuff like shooting rainbows, moonbeams, and blast of pink and colorful stuff like that.

4. Vehicles - Instead of using tanks, Jets, and other military-like weapons, use grunge buggies, sprite mobiles, and stuff like that, maybe even starlite.

5. Characters - Use characters that are NOT dressed suggestively, or in military clothing. If you have copyright permission or the game is a fan-game, use Rainbow Brite characters.

6. Game Play concepts - For the most part, you can use the same complicated gameplay concepts that today's games use, as long as you do all of the above. Just don't make it TOO tough, and also don't make it as boring as the gba mlp game. Something like an rpg or a "shooter" would work well, as long as it wasn't really a shooter (because the above things were done to it).

7. Intent - Make it clear that all the characters in the game are just playing or having a party, and not doing what they do in the game out of spite.

More ideas about how to make a Rainbow Brite action game:

My thinking was like still using "guns" just not realistic ones. Have a colorful looking gun that shoots out rainbows. If the opponent gets hit by too many rainbows, they get teleported back to start and they lose a point or the player that hit them gets a point.

There could be several different varieties of different "guns" for different characters. Like Rainbow Brite's gun shoots rainbows, moonglo's gun shoots moonbeams, tickled pink's gun shoots pink blasts, and murky's gun would shoot gloom (gloom guns have even been seen on the show). Stormy's gun would shoot electricity (although it would have to be clear it didn't actually harm anyone; if that can't work then have her shoot clouds instead) and each color kid would have a gun that shoots blasts of their color.

It would be multiplayer, or against the cpu. It would be each character for themself, or also teams. The hero's of rb could get away with "shooting" each other, because like I had said they'd be just playing and having fun.

Another idea: Have the blasts/projectiles mentioned above come from star sprinkles or the characters' own magical powers, rather than from guns. It could be possible for the characters to shoot these things without having any kind of weapon at all, other than some magic or star sprinkles. To make the game more challenging, make it so the star sprinkles can run out, so players need to collect ammo in addition to trying to "shoot" the other players. This idea came from someone on the rainbowbrite.co.uk forum.
