The Horrors of Gaming Websites!

I do not like gamer forums because they are creepy crawling with cyber bullies. They're full of people who will flame you if you tell them you like something such as Rainbow Brite or My Little Pony, and the some of the sites' admins and mods let them do it!

Game forums like gamefaqs have people that are so on their high horses about being good at video games that they expect EVERYONE to be a hard core gamer and not play casually. If you play casually, then in their opinion, you suck. My experience on gamefaqs' pokemon boards was a bad one. They made fun of me because I don't ev train, and because I use legendaries. They think I use legends because I'm a "cheap bratty noob who cries like a baby if I don't win". That is not the case. I use legends because I like the way they look, and because of their storyline. They also bullied me using sarcasm that was rude but so subtle that the admins of gamefaqs could not do anything about it.

Game development sites are no different. I joined several different game development forums, most notably gamemakergames.com and yoyogames.com. All of them were full of mean people that expected people to make their games perfectly. If it wasn't the perfect game, then in their opinion, it sucks. I've made some pretty good games, with many different highscores lists and cool features, but since they don't think the games are perfect, the people on those sites had the nerve to tell me that my games sucked. When I complained about peoples' rudeness, they turned around and told me that I can't take constructive critisism. Since when was any critisism (if I should call it that) that had the word "sucks" or "crap" in it to be considered constructive? They were being just plain rude and they didn't want to admit it.

If you are one of my pony or rainbow brite forum friends and you develop games, do NOT go to gamemakergames.com! Trust me, they will condemn you to death! Sad, but true. I know, you should be allowed to develop a my little pony game and share it and post it there, but they'll just be jerks towards you. Someone on there once told me I shouldn't post about rainbow brite, and I asked them "shouldn't we accept others for who they are and their interests?" and they said "No, we shouldn't." Then they went on to say that liking rainbow brite was unhealthy because it would keep you from having a social life and blah blah blah...

Now I know somewhere reading this you probably thought "Not ALL gamer sites are like this!" Well there may be one or two oddball ones out there, but I can assure you that MOST gamer sites are like this. Trust me, I've been to gamer site after gamer site and hoped each one would be different, and wound up ticked off with a bully or dozen and thus disappointed. The bottom line is - and I know this from experience - gamer forums are NOT to be trusted.
