This game has 6 different modes. Classic is a mode where you shoot at and must defeat the boss.

Subtle Knife is a mode where both you and the boss are invulnerable. However, you both have a dæmon. If your dæmon dies, so do you.

You must wait for the Subtle Knife to appear then stab the boss's dæmon. Also, bricks are completely harmless in this mode, and if a boss shot hits you, you won't die, it has to hit your dæmon.
Rescue is a mode where you can unlock new characters. On most levels, you will rescue a "whitehair". You must wait for a key to appear and use it to open the cage that the character is being held in by the boss (you don't destroy the boss in this mode).

A few hints on unlocking characters (I won't telll you everything):
Unlock whitehair by saving her once.
MOMO is the only character unlocked when you play the first time. there are 12 characters in all.
Certain characters can only rescue certain other characters.
The number of levels completed in a row is a factor.....
You'll know when you are on a new character unlocking level by the music.....

Quick-Play mode is similar to classic and is unlocked by scoring at least 250000 points in Classic.
Quick-Knife mode is similar to subtle knife and is unlocked by scoring at least 175000 points in subtle knife.
Quick-rescue mode is similar to rescue and is unlocked by scoring at least 500000 points in rescue.

The 3 differences between those modes and the ones they are similar to are:
1. The game ends after one level.
2. After completing your level, you get 10000 points per life left
3. If you fail to complete your level, you get no entry onto highscores list, no matter how high your score is.
There is one highscore list for each mode, both locally and online (local lists store 15 scores, I think online lists store unlimited). After submitting your score to local lists, or after you find out you didnt make the local list, you will be asked if you want to submit your score online. If you say yes, your browser will open and you must fill out the form to submit your score to the list for the mode you played.

arrows move on menus
enter confirms menu option
arrows move in game
Letter P pauses (not in the version you currently have, MINE)
Z shoots laser
X shoots missile (more powerful of the two weapons)


Bricks shield the boss. Normal bricks take one hit of either weapon to destroy, while stone bricks take 1 missile or 4 lasers.

The boss's shots take 1 hit from any weapon to destroy and give fairly big points.


When the number in the top right of the screen reaches zero, a PowerUp will fall from the sky.
And you must NEVER run out of ammo. If you do that, in any mode, you'll regret it (if it happens you'll know what I mean).
There is also two player mode. This mode is not via the internet, or even LAN, its simply on one pc. Only one player will play at once, when they lose a life, it's the other player's turn. Each player has their own score and lives, but they share ammo, so don't let your friend down by running out! Upon game over (when both players are out of lives), both players can submit their scores, both locally and online.
